The current proposal includes a $25 million bond issue to construct the new recreation center and a $500,000 mill levy subsidy to address operations and maintenance. The mill levy estimates for construction and operations of the Mid-Valley Rec Center were arrived at using a careful analysis of similar centers and making conservative estimates of construction and operational costs. Funding streams from membership and usage fees were also estimated, based on up-to-date figures at local recreation centers and on the real expenses and operational subsidies associated with comparable facilities. Although they are based on careful analysis, costs and income are estimates pending final construction and actual operations. |
The total estimated monthly tax impact of the bond and mill levy to taxpayers in the Crown Mountain Park and Recreation District would be $3.26/month per $100,000 of a home's market value or about $16.30/month for a home with a market value of $500,000. |
There are approximately 10,000 residents in the Crown Mountain Park and Recreation District. It encompasses many neighborhoods from Blue Lake to Missouri Heights through Willits and Basalt (old town) to Old Snowmass and the Capital Creek Valley. |
